It was the day of the village litter-pick in the sleepy village of Chatsbury Merlow. Dolly Grainger's body lay cold and lifeless at the edge of the water. She had been poisoned, that much was obvious. DCI Bob Pratt and DS Mercedes Bonneville were quick on the case.

Finding village folk insufferable at the best of times, can the detective and his faithful sidekick wade through the comings and goings of a bunch of village eccentrics without losing their minds?
