Beaver the Pigeon & Company

Beaver lives mainly here in The Potager. He has his own little pigeon platform where his treats are laid out unless it's really windy. He likes to play with his fellow pigeon friends where he and his best friend, High Stride, vie for the attention of the very determined Petal. The three chums like to play chase regularly, flapping their wings really loudly at times which sounds like a bed sheet being given a jolly good shake on a blustery day.
Cootio the Great Tit, Ruffles & Shilo

Looking slightly different to his fellow great tits, Ruffles & Shilo, Cootio was born with a rather peculiar looking hairstyle. In our opinion, his barnet should be recognised as 'possibly trailblazing'. Standing his ground against the others, he gets his fair share of food every morning. We think he is very handsome.
Squizzy aka ‘Squirrel Chops’

What can we say but “Oh my!” Squizzy loves nuts and will risk life and limb to locate them. He could easily get a job in a circus as a trapeze artist. Such a character!
Fez the Pheasant Beau

Fezzy is our boy. He calls out when he wants some food and waits patiently until it’s put out. He can be picky though, preferring chopped peanuts, raisins and small bird seed. He watches over his girlfriends when they attend with him.
Bluey the Bandit

Aww, what can we say, Bluey is a darling. Don't be deceived by his appearance, he's a determined little bird who gets what he needs despite the mayhem that goes on in his world. Pretty sure he'll fall into the pond at some point though as he has to really bend down in order to drink. Not sure why he does this when there's always fresh water available in the bird bath, we think it's because it's a more exposed area, over in The Patch.
Those Whom Shall Not Be Named

Yes. The starlings. They are classed as just that, ‘The Starlings’. What a din they make and talk about greedy! Two of them fledged from a neighbour's breeding box and think that they actually live here. They are probably reluctant to leave as lots of food can be scavenged, notably Mrs WH’s homemade fatballs.
Robin Crumb

Robin is rather solitary, preferring to keep himself to himself. He likes to see what's going on but doesn't hang around for too long, having business to attend to elsewhere. Word on the street is he works in intelligence.
Speckle Brown

Mrs WH doesn't have favourites but if she were to consider possible contenders undoubtedly Speckle would be in with a chance. Another solitary soul, Speckle prefers to hang around The Little Pond at The Stumpery and play ‘Peep-o’ with the world. Unattached and happy.
Veronica Raven & her partner Reginald

Referring back to possible favourite characters, Ronnie, as she is affectionately known, is another visitor who is ‘up there’ high on the list. Bearing both a white chest patch and a white edged wing, Ronnie likes to shrug her shoulders up and down whilst attempting to sing opera. She is one of the funniest characters who is pretty much a full time resident.
Mr Dewsbury

A popular character, Mr Dewsbury is a blackbird who likes to hop around the garden teasing the grubs. He particularly enjoys that quiet period in the morning when we are still sleeping. We always know what he's up to though because we check the camera footage and can tell you for certain that he is a raspberry thief.
Bellamy, Barnsley, Barley & Co

Our badgers have been visiting for a number of years now. It is particularly important to help support them when the weather begins to get colder. They love fruit, peanuts, seeds and raisins.
Woody & Co

Woody is the boss of all the others. He visits numerous times a day to feed and drink and woe betide anyone who gets in his way! We believe he has an over inflated opinion of himself. There are two other woodpeckers that tag along sometimes, smaller and not as ‘peckerish’.
Myrtle

Myrtle graduated from Myrtletydfil University and is our mesmerising magpie. A new recruit to The Potager having taken to visiting us regularly, sometimes along with her friend, Marvin. She loves food very much, more than Marvin we would say.
The Hatch & Patch Mices

Quick and determined the mice mop up the floor like perfect little housekeepers. Known to have the odd ‘shindig’ during the quieter times but keep the noise down to a reasonable level.
